Mary Bird Perkins has been solely dedicated to fighting cancer for over 35 years, serving 17 parishes in Southeast Louisiana. MBP has a variety of the best of class radiation therapy options. This means we can treat the most simple cancer cases to the most complex cases – without accepting the limitations of a one size fits all solution. MBP currently offers the latest advances in radiation treatment technology, including IMRT, advanced IGRT through BrainLAB Novalis and the TomoTherapy Hi-Art System, stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, adaptive radiotherapy and 4-D CT tumor localization.
When OLOL began treating cancer in 1923, treatment options were mostly limited to pain management. OLOL is not only committed to providing complete care – from diagnosis to follow-up – but also to remaining the area’s technological leader. OLOL is among the first five accredited integrated cancer centers in the country; among the first 10 U.S. hospitals accredited in cellular therapy; and the largest outpatient treatment capacity. In addition, OLOL offers more impatient visits than any other local center; Baton Rouge area’s only peripheral blood stem cell transportation program; and Louisiana’s only high-dose Interleukin-2 chemotherapy treatment center.
The Cancer Program of Our Lady of the Lake and Mary Bird Perkins provides free cancer screenings throughout the year including prostate, skin and colorectal cancer screenings. These events provide diagnostic and educational services to underserved and uninsured populations throughout the greater Baton Rouge region.
