Bone Marrow Transplant Support Group

This group is comprised of bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell transplant survivors, family, and friends with various cancer diagnoses. Members meet monthly to share insight and experience with prospective transplant patients and their families. Contact Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge for more information.

Cancer Survivors Support Group of Pointe Coupee

Cancer survivors, family and friends come together to help provide mutual support, share experiences and discuss successful coping techniques. Monthly meetings are held the first Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Expresso Etc. in New Roads.

Candlelighters and Kids Care

Provides encouragement and support to families with children who are fighting cancer or any other chronic disease. Organizes activities and outings year-round for families to participate in a fun, supportive atmosphere. All services and assistance are provided free of charge. Introduction to Hospice

Leukemia Society

An educational support group for persons with leukemia or lymphoma. Patients and family members are given information by medical personnel. The group meets on the first Monday of each month at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center .

A step-by-step, one-on-one makeup guide with great tips on hair styles and grooming for women living with cancer. This program and all its products are provided free of charge. Meetings are held several times a month at various hospitals in the community. Contact the American Cancer Society for the next scheduled series and location.

Lymphoma/Leukemia

An educational support group for persons with lymphoma or leukemia. The group meets on the last Friday of each month at noon. A service provided by Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.

A support group for patients and survivors to assist with physical, social and emotional rehabilitation. Meets the third Monday of each month at 11:45 a.m. at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center . Contact the American Cancer Society.

Ostomy Association Support Group

Assists with the rehabilitation of ostomy patients through information, educational material and emotional support. Meets the fourth Monday of each month (except for May and December) at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center at 7:00 p.m.

Prostate Cancer Support Group

For prostate cancer survivors as well as those currently undergoing treatment. Education and mutual support. Meets the first Monday of each month.

Reach to Recovery

A patient visitation program for women who have had breast surgery related to cancer. Visitors are trained volunteers who have recovered from similar surgery. Must have physician referral. A prosthesis (where applicable) will be provided as well as literature, exercise information and emotional support. This service is available anytime. Contact the American Cancer Society.

Relaxation Workshop

Sisters Supporting Sisters

The Baton Rouge Chapter of Sisters Network is a support group for African American breast cancer survivors. Meets the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church .

Stem Cell Infusion and Marrow Transplant Network

The Hope Chests
